Whether you're an amateur or a pro bowler in a league, nothing beats the sheer feeling of bliss when you see the last pin fall over and the X goes up on the scoreboard. If you're really skilled, maybe you've experienced the thrill of bowling three strikes in a row for a "turkey" (XXX).In San Diego there are a variety of bowling alleys to choose from to go and perfect your strike (X). Two of my favorites are Mira Mesa Lanes and Kearny Mesa Bowl. Both are located in central San Diego and offer leagues and plenty of open play time. If you like to rock out, try Thunder Alley at Mira Mesa Lanes on Friday and Saturday nights. They put rock videos on the overhead screens, play loud music, and add crazy lighting for a fun party atmosphere.
Another bonus at Mira Mesa Lanes is walking across the parking lot to the shopping center after you're done bowling and enjoying a huge dish of self-serve fro-yo at Yogurtland. You're able to taste test the flavors, add as many toppings as you would like, and pay by the weight. The Hello Kitty plastic spoons and unique seasonal flavors make this the best frozen yogurt chain in town. A perfect reward after bowling a few strikes X!

My bowling experiences are limited, and abysmal. Sad to say.
BIG fan of candlepin bowling -- even though it's freakin' hard compared to the big ball variety. Also a BIG fan of Yogurtland!
Probably my favorite NYE memory growing up is from the year my family, plus my aunt and uncle, went bowling in Poway. I was probably about 10 (so my brother was 8-ish)
They had this deal where it was like $20 for the whole night per person, including food. It was a blast!
They were doing things constantly...like if you get a strike on this frame you get _______. Or if you get a turkey this game you win free passes for the year, etc.
We had so much fun. But man did you feel it in your arm after awhile bowling that much! :-)

Milo - It's nice to have 3 chances to get all the pins, but I need all 3 in candlepin!
Leese - That is one of the things I love about bowling. It is something for the whole family and all ages to enjoy together. What a fun memory!
