Since Kristi Yamaguchi won the 1992 Olympics, she has been America's golden girl. Her Olympic long program wasn't perfect, but it showed the grit and determination of a champion. When they put the gold medal around her neck, it was an iconic moment.
As a professional skating in Stars on Ice, her artistry blossomed and she maintained a high level of technical difficulty in her jumps. This performance on the 1999-2000 SOI tour to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" is one of my favorites. As Scott says in the introduction, she's an "image of hope."
